Having it Secure ~Made up Mind~

Psalm 16:5 says” LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

There will come a time in one’s life when they will have to have a made up mind, that they will follow Christ to the end with no turning back! When we read the story of David we see allot of things in which David did, some good some bad just like you and I.

David made up his mind that he was going to follow God to the end. Today you and I are faced with this same question ” will you make up your mind in following the Lord Jesus Christ?”

David the psalmists begins with expressions of devotion, which may be applied to Christ; but ends with such confidence of a resurrection, as must be applied to Christ, and to him only. David flees to God’s protection, with cheerful, believing confidence.

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance the Messiah speaks. Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance; I seek no earthly good; I desire to do the will of God, and that only. It is God who has given me this lot to redeem mankind to have them for mine inheritance. From him I have received the cup of suffering, which I shall drink for their sake, through which I shall impart to them the cup of consolation. He, by the grace of God, has tasted death for every man; and he has instituted the cup of blessing to commemorate his passion and death.

That’s Just Plain Nasty

Matthew 15:11 says” It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles and dishonor him, but what comes out of the mouth, that defiles and dishonors him

When it comes to nasty things we all have a list of things which we would consider to be nasty, for instance someone eating before washing their hands, using the restroom without washing your hands. Wearing clothes that are two sizes smaller, seeing people wearing sandals and their toes aren’t clean I consider these things to be nasty.

Here in our scripture of text, Matthew is saying it’s not what goes in a person that defiles a man but what comes from his mouth that defiles a man.

Now when we hear people be disrespectful, cursing, using foul language, talking hateful words; Matthew is saying this is what defiles a man, and it brings no honor to God.

With I believe in all honesty that we all each person on this earth has defiled themselves and God. And the sad thing about it is that we continue doing it without regards to it. We can see a person eat from a hunt that they went on and we will say there is no way we would eat that. Because we view some of the animals to be nasty to eat after it’s been killed. But did you know that just because you call it nasty it’s not defiling that man who eat of it? We call it nasty true, but what defiles us is what comes from out of our hearts. Christ shows that the defilement they ought to fear, was not from what entered their mouths as food, but from what came out of their mouths, which showed the wickedness of their hearts.

To stop defiling ourselves we first must be careful as to what we allow our hearts to be influence to. For instance, when we listen to music that is not uplifting or watch movies that degrades a person or surround ourselves with people who constantly speak negatively we are allowing our hearts to attach itself to those things. Over a period of time those things grow roots and our hearts will speak and act like that which we have introduce it to.

It’s sad enough that the world dishonors us don’t you think we should honor ourselves?
