1 Peter 3:7 says” Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Peter goes on to tell us that there is a way that can clog our prayer life with our husband, he also tells us that there is a way that we are to live with our wife that will not clog our prayer life. He tells us how both the husband and the wife are to live with each other.
The husband is to speak well of her and respectfully to her, and by deeds as well as words; not only by clothing her in a decent and becoming manner. But by providing everything honest and comely for her, food and raiment a suitable maintenance, all the necessaries conveniences and delights of life.
1 Peter 3:6 says” Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.
The wife ought to take care of the family, to educate her children, to serve and minister to her husband in all things, “calling him her own lord”; which is what we learn from the example of Sarah, who called Abraham her lord, saying, “my lord is old”.”
As I began reading these verses it had me thinking and wondering about what prayers of mine are being hindered, by something I am not doing?
We know that marriage is not easy but God has given us a blue print manual of His Word to help us. So I ask you who have a Christian Marriage, wouldn’t you want to do what God says so that nothing interferes with your marriage?
Join me in studying these verses that Peter talks about because it’s one thing for us to hinder our own prayers but something totally different to hinder our spouse prayers.
Are you ready to Stop Hindering Your Prayers in Your Marriage?
- Write down the verses in 1 Peter 3:1-7 and as you write them down ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you study each scripture verse.
- Second, ask the Lord to show you where you lack in that verse.
- Second, ask the Lord to show you where you lack in the verses.
- Third, ask the Lord to forgive you and to change your heart, so that your prayers will no longer be hinder.
- Fourth, take it serious, because your marriage is a blessing from God.
Personal Note: All of us are guilty of hindering our prayers one way or another. And it’s time we stop having our prayers hindered by ourselves. It’s time to get up and get to working. Marriage is a Blessing from God, I do believe that there is a whole new level in which our marriages could be if we would stop hindering it.
