Fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness

Galatians 5:22 says“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Today’s Bible Trivia Question: What are the fruit of the Spirit? The answer is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

The times in which we live in these days, with half of all Americans marriages still ending up in divorce, while so many people are being treated wrongly in the workplace, we need to have this fruit active within our lives. We are not to just have it with our relationship with Jesus but we are to have it active in every area of our lives, including friends and families.

But because of the pressures one have to endure we give up too soon, we need to ask those hard questions of ourselves are we being like Jesus would have us to be have we been faithful in all areas of our lives? If we can truly say yes then giving up will never be an option.

I am impressed when I hear people who say that they been married for over 50 years, I ask them what keeps your marriage going and they give me different answers, some say, communication, working at it, some even venture out to say “get over themselves”. One day I asked my Aunt who has been married over 50 years and she said it’s all about respect and love. Imagine that “love” that is what Jesus teaches us, nothing in life comes easy in life, especially if it’s worth having. All to often we give up too soon, we complain way to much when we just need to be faithful, (instead of being faithful to giving up, we tell God we want out. The Holy Spirit is saying, “just a little longer, if you can hold on just a little longer” but we can’t we give up and miss the blessing and never grow.

I challenge you to write down what are about to give up on, once you have it written down ask yourself why are you giving it up? Seriously give yourself some time to answer the question.  Being a Christian we have to remain faithful to Jesus and have it active in our daily lives. Being faithful is not when things are running smooth it’s being faithful when life becomes hard as well.
