Arrogant, stubborness, fault-finding = A Haughtiness Spirit.

Proverbs 6:16-19 says, There are six things that LORD hates, even that are detestable to Him. A lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pour out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

There are all kinds of spirits in this world some are good and some are very dangerous. The ones that are good comes from God but the ones that are dangerous comes directly from Satan himself.

Did you not know that fault-finding, contentious, rebellion, arrogant, stubborn is a spirit of Haughtiness? God’s word tells us to be humble and have a contrite spirit and the spirit of haughtiness will leave us. If you struggle in this area began reading this verse  everyday.

You may be asking well how does one know that they have such spirits of haughtiness active in their lives? The only way to truly know is to look at your self in pure honesty. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in all truth, think about family there are some things we know so well about ourselves that we don’t even need to go to God and ask Him to show us for we know what most of the things we are doing is totally wrong.

How many times in the course of your day do you find fault with others instead of looking at yourself first? How many times in an hour are you stubborn about doing something? See we all can say yes to this which means we have a spirit of haughtiness which lays at our doorpost. I am not saying we are going to be perfect here on earth, know that is not what I am saying, what I am saying is we need to strive to be like Christ everyday. And the only way that is going to happen for us all is by the renewing of our minds. We can’t go on continuing with the way we think things are to be and what we want them to be. God’s ways are so different than our and He is wanting us to see things His way and come from what we thought.

This is why our attitudes and behaviors are fighting against God and His word  it fights with you on the inside because your flesh doesn’t want to change. It likes who it is.

  1. As I wait for the ‘real’ coffee to finish brewing, I came here to have a ‘drink’ from this post..AWESOME….”God’s ways are so different than our and He is wanting us to see things His way” amen amen amen!!

I think upon the scripture 2 Corinthians 10:3-5..though we are of the flesh , we do not battle according to the flesh, for our weapons of battle are not of the flesh but are enormously powerful, capable of destroying fortresses. We destroy arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and we take every thought captive in the obedience of Christ!!

  2. Amen Angela our warfare is not of the flesh and blood but by the spirits. and by the way I stand on that scripture every time I am in warfare prayer. Thanks for dropping by sis and hope you come again soon.

  4. Great thoughts on a touchy subject. It takes time to look deep in the mirror of self and recognize that creature staring back at you with an “Who me?” face. You got it right! Blessings for this sharing.

  5. The most courageous journey we will ever take is the one within ourselves. It can be pretty ugly in there. Praise God for Philippians 1:6. God never gives up.
    Grace and peace!

  6. Amen, sister! Brings to mind Paul’s words in Romans 7-his eloquently stated struggle between flesh and spirit that we all have as humans: “14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
PRAISE GOD for rescuing us from the futility of our flesh!
Keep up the good work for His glory!!

  9. Thanks for checking out my blog! I’m glad you liked it. This post really speaks to me. It has been my prayer to have a gentle and quiet spirit and for God to demolish my pride. I’m so grateful for the work of the Holy Spirit in us that does make us able to live like Jesus! Thank you for your challenging words!

    1. Laura forgive me for getting back to you so late on your comment. God loves us so much that He is not willing to let any of us perish. And I for one am so ever grateful of His love. I do believe that when we are honest about the sin in our lives that is when we start to grow. AMEN We all struggle with this type of spirit some of us have one some may have more but when we admit it and allow the Holy Spirit to clean us of it. We end up being much better at deny the flesh and putting on the garment of righteousness. Have a blessed day..

  10. I agree with Laura, pride is deadly, thank you Jesus that we can come to you in the midst of this sin. The spirit of pride also enters churches that’s a road that only warfare prayer can remedy. jesus is over it all!

  11. I am a victim of verbal abuse. I am ready to leave my relationship with my fiancée who does nothing but criticize me. I am not confrontational nor do I know how to argue, but I cannot do anything right and I can’t say anything right without getting a verbal beat down. After he finish saying what he has to say, he ends it with “I love you.”
I am ready to call it quits.

    1. I’m sorry to hear that your in an abusive relationship. I would highly recommend that you do get some professional, I am not a counselor but you need it in order to help yourself, emotional, physical and spiritual.

I will be praying for your healing.
