Desiray’s Corner

My thoughts for this evening…
I often find myself asking what causes a person to justify his or her sins? There really is no reason for it and yet we all have done it. Are we doing to because we want to continue to do it, or is it we just don’t see it as being a sin?

prayer shawlRegardless of what our reasoning is sin is sin period. And so I came across a story in the bible where Ezekiel  was talking about how leaders of the church are covering up sin by telling the people it’s okay everyone else is doing it.

Ezekiel 22:28 it says” Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says’–when the LORD has not spoken.

What does this verse means? Well if you go back and read the entire chapter of Ezekiel 22 you will see that the people’s leaders was covering up sin. Just like today we have leaders within the church who will compromise God’s word by telling people “don’t worry everyone else is doing it.”

When you and I make excuses for sin we are compromising God’s Word. In today’s society we have become so ignorant towards “SIN” by making it so attractive that people are literally running towards sin instead of running from sin.

So how did Ezekiel handle the problem with the leaders and the people? Ask yourself if you saw someone you knew sinning would you tell them that they are sinning or would you cover it up by saying it’s okay everyone is doing it? What about yourself when you sin, are you covering up your sin by justifying your actions or are you coming clean about your sin?
