Come into Agreement …why do we struggle?

Amos 3:3 says’ “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?

When it comes to agreement why can’t we just all agree for the common goal. We have members within the church who can’t agree, we  have members in our own families who can’t seem to agree together, and why is that?

If we say we love one another and we care about each other than why can’t we agree? I tell you why? Because in the book of James he tells us that we want our own way and that we are selfish. And anytime you want your own way and are selfish you never ever will see the other persons perspective.

Did you know that many homes are broken and destroyed all because of an argument which took place years ago, marriages being destroyed all because of our own selfishness? The sad thing is we blame the other person when all we have to do is look within the mirror and start with us.

James said it best when he said this, James 4:1-3 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Even in our prayer we have selfish motives. Then we wonder why our prayers aren’t be answered, but there is hope for us. I know James make it very plain and he sticks it to us right where it hurts, but sooner or later we have got to stop trying to get people to see things from our perspective and get them seeing God’s perspective.

I am a firm believer that when we spend more time in God’s word and take on His character we won’t be so concern about these frivolous matters we will accept that they just aren’t ready to see it from God’s Word and we move on. Allowing  God to change the person’s heart, not you.

One of the reason we become frustrated is because we try to change people’s hearts and that is “NOT” our job that is God’s task. Another reason for us not being in agreement with one another is Spiritual Unfaithfulness people who are spiritually un-faithful are those who love the world more than GOD.

    1. Thank you Barb, last year when I did a complete study of the book of James I learned so much about why we do what we do. The book of James is direct there is no kidding or beating around the bush…It makes you look at yourself for who we really are. And I have to admit there was somethings in me that I saw that I did not like. In all honesty no one wants to admit that this is the reason why they argue, but the Lord does say you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. AMEN
