Is your reasoning, Boredom?

Many people view the Bible as Boredom:

FACT: If one view the bible as boredom they will not read it.

When we think of the word boredom what comes to your mind? We think of it as not being fun a waste of time. Did you know that there are many people who view reading the bible to be a boredom to them? I do believe in my spirit that people who find it to be boredom is because they view the bible as a bunch of rule and regulations.

If we change our view and see the bible as being a book that has all of life’s answers to all the questions we have then one will never view the bible as being a boredom. I can remember when I was 10 years old and every summer I went to Vacation Bible School. The first time my mom enrolled us I did not know what to expect, but when I got there I saw my friends and the teacher would have us sit down in a circle as she read the stories of the bible. I remember the very first story she read was out of Genesis, Cain and Abel. I was so excited as I was listening to the story but I was also sadden and did not know the reason as to why, I remember going home that night talking with my mom about what I learned that day telling her about the story and asking her why was I excited and yet sadden at the same time? You know Mom’s always have the answer, she informed me that it was okay for me to feel that way. And that I was too continue going to Vacation Bible School and that it will all make sense to me.

I continued going and could not wait for the next day to come, my friends that was there was asking all kinds of questions as to why Jesus died and why did God let His Son come to earth? I never asked a question I sat and listen. To this day I still don’t know why I did not ask questions. But before the summer was over I knew in my heart of heart that Jesus loved me and that I can live with Him in eternity. That day at the end of the summer I had said the sinners’ prayer.

I know that not everyone went to a Vacation Bible School, I also know that not every person was introduced to the Word of God at an early age, but what I do know and that is if we would only look at God’s Word as being life we will not find it to be boredom at all. Think about this how many times have you asked a question about anything no matter what it pertains to but you asked the question and you wish you could go to one place and get all the answers without going from one book to another or one person to another?

The bible is life, it’s God speaking to us about every thing no matter what God has a word for it. And look at the people who are in the bible they are no different then you and I today, they made mistakes just like we do and still will, they sin and judge others like we do, they had problems in their homes like we do, they struggled with forgiveness, pride, lust, fornication and so much more.

I think what happen is that we compare ourselves like the people in the bible and we feel we can’t measure up with the things they did, there was some great men and women in the bible from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Ruth, Esther, Deborah, and many more. Take your time reading the word don’t think you  have to read so many verse in a day, but take your time and allow the Lord to speak to you about what you have read. And before long you will see yourself reading more because now you have found His word to be a breath of fresh air, you just can’t get enough of it.
