1 John 4:1 says” Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Hebrews 5:14 says” But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
Let me ask you the question do you know how to discern? Do you know what discernment is? For many years in my life before I asked the Lord to come into my life. I have always had this thing which I called superstition. I grew up thinking that just maybe I was weird I never spoke this to anyone for I was afraid to.
It wasn’t until I accepted Jesus Christ thirty years ago when I started seeking the Lord and in studying that I realized that I had already had this gift but I was using it in the wrong way.
I thought that it was superstition but what the Holy Spirit taught me was that I needed to be guided with this gift. Every day I prayed that the Holy Spirit would teach me and give me the gift of discernment.
Many people today are and was like me not knowing how to use the gifts that God has given us. When it comes to discerning it is not superstition although the world calls it that. Maybe you are thinking you don’t need this gift I am here to tell you that you need it more than you think you do.Why? Because the bible clearly states so.
When we don’t discern we end up getting ourselves into so much trouble that we will believe everything we hear and see. This is why in the book of Hebrews it says that we are to test every spirit and the way we can do that correctly is to have the gift of discernment.
Maybe today you don’t have this gift it’s time that you seek it from the Lord Jesus so that you will know between good and evil. For without it you will end up calling evil good and good evil.
Have a blessed Sunday.
