Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
I believe as children of God we should have much better work ethics then anyone on the job. We should not be taking advantage of our position as children of God. For instance when we are on the clock and it’s not our break we should not be surfing the internet posting on social media networking site. We should not be using our cell phones making personal calls or using it to catch up with social media latest news.
Even if you are posting scriptures what you are doing is totally wrong because you are not bringing glory to God. How can you talk about the God you serve when your work ethics are poorly?
There are people on our jobs who watches you and I they see how we behave how we respond to things and the way we witness to them is by doing what Jesus would do. Sinners don’t understand this scripture about working as unto the Lord, but when they see us working and not braking the rules we set a much higher standard. Just because you are a child of God don’t abuse God’s word and do as you please with no regards, that type of behavior does not please the Lord at all.
For the Lord would rather a sinner not know better and be honest then for a saint to know the truth and be disobedient. What would happen if your boss found out what you was doing on company time? They would fire you right? And then you will be very upset crying to Jesus to help you find a new job because you don’t understand why they fired you when you are such a good worker, right? Yeah, see we can’t expect to keep on sinning just so grace can abound, there are consequences for the actions we do. Was abusing the bosses time worth you losing the job? No! it wasn’t but sin always looks appealing to us but it’s end result is always death.
But had we done the right thing from the beginning there would be no need to be crying to God about the lost of your job. Let’s do what is right in the sight of God so we don’t make these mistakes and regret them later.
When you are working do it with all your heart because you are working for the Lord, it was the Lord that delivered that position to you. We didn’t obtain it on our own, it’s your responsibility to be a good steward of what the Lord has blessed you with.
So the next time you reach to do things that is robbing your employer ask yourself this one question, Is Jesus being honored in my behavior? Our work ethics should always bring honor to Him. You surfing the net using cell phones on employers time can wait until you have your break and your off the clock.
When we don’t do as the scripture says we are serving ourselves. And that my friends and family is not good. Don’t you want to receive an inheritance from the Lord?
