Speaking in Tongues

Well this one is the most controversial gifts of all. Now you all know me I never debt God’s word and so I won’t today, so please put aside what you thought you knew or what you was taught and let’s go  directly to the word of God.

What is tongues? Tongues is the Holy Spirit giving you the supernatural ability to speak in a foreign tongue that you have no knowledge or ability to speak on your own. When you have been baptized with the Holy Spirit one of the signs is speaking in tongues.  In Romans 8:26 it says, In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

Which means there will be moments we are going to be lost and don’t know what to pray for, and I know each one of us have found ourselves feeling like oh, God  how do I say the words. This happens to every believer but the blessing is God has given us a gift which is tongues and when we don’t know what to pray or what  to say we immediately begin to pray in tongues and when we do this it’s the Spirit praying directly to the Father, there is no motives when we pray in the spirit. Because the spirit knows just what to pray to the Father about concerning you.

When you have this gift of speaking in tongues you are to pray in tongues more often than you should, everyday when you pray in this tongue you are developing a prayer life and that prayer life becomes strong and you become in tune with the Father more so.

For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” 1 Corinthians 14:2

Today begin reading more about Tongues in 1 Corinthians 13, 14 chapters and also read the book of Acts this will help you to see why each believer must have this gift.

Acts 19: 2 says” He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

Who was Paul talking to? He was asking some of the disciples that he saw as he was passing through Ephesus, He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” Notice that Paul asked this question after Jesus has been resurrected, which tells me one thing “it’s important that they have it” because when you read further you see in verse 7  that when Paul placed his hands on them  the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

  1. Amen. I speak in tongues almost always while I am praising and worshiping. The words just come out without much thought or effort. Its between me and the Lord. I know some people say if there is tongues, there needs to be someone to interpret. But this is done during my personal praise, worship and prayer time. Its not weird or scary; Its one more way to communion or connect with the Lord.

    1. Amen…when it’s you and the Lord and your speaking in tongues you don’t need to have it interpreted, because it’s you speaking to Him and if the Lord chooses to share anything with you He will interpret it to you. AMEN

  2. Good message, Desiray. I’ve also noticed that the more I pray in tongues, the less I talk in English, and when I do talk in English, I say things that are worth saying — and not just the “talking just to be talking” kind of thing I often do otherwise.
