What does God say abouts “Death Penalty”

Genesis 9:6 says “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.

There has always been this question in my mind concerning those who have a job where they can sentence a person to death by lethal injection. My question is this ” are they justified by what they do?” And are they going to heaven?

We can not  rationalize this just so we can feel good about sin. Let’s go directly to the word of God. The bible clearly speaks about “Murder” God is totally against it He calls it “SIN”. Which tells me that when a person sentences a person to death by lethal injection, rather they put the needle in the vein or not they have committed a sin. You might ask how did they commit the sin? Very easy, that person went against the word of God and anyone who goes against the Word commits a sin.

You and I may not murder a person but the bible tells us in Matthew 5:21 You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ Then in 1 John 3:15 it says Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

When we look at these two verses it speaks very clear that in the eyes of God
if we even hate our brother God calls it murder, and who is our brother? It’s not just your sibling it’s every man and every woman, they are your brothers.

I know this devotion is different then what you normally expect from me, but folks we live in a real world with real issues and everyday evil is constantly around. We who are Christians don’t address these issues who will?
