Steering Clear of the Apperance of Evil

1 Thessalonians 5:22 says” Abstain from all appearance of evil.

In this world there are so much evil that it disguises itself so that we can partake of its fruit. This is why many of us struggle with this verse 1Thessalonians 5:22.

Why does the Lord tells us in His word to abstain from evil? Evil is not our friend it will only kill, steal and destroy us.

The bible tells us to stay away from evil people and their foolish conversations. Stay away from bad influences. But are we really steering away from anything that has the appearance of evil?

Truth be told no we aren’t doing a good job at all. We love that forbid fruit don’t we? We may never even wanted to try it but because we are told to abstain from it, it looks pleasing to us. Many of us have people in our lives in which we need to steer away from.

Now ask yourself what was the benefit of you partaking of that evil? I am sure you did not reap any blessings. I am sure you reaped havoc. So how does one really know how to stay away from the appearance of evil? The answer is found in verses 21 and 22 “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil. Now before you say you don’t know if it is evil or not. Let me draw your attention to this verse in which Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Remember to steer away from anything that has the appearance of evil, just because the package looks and sounds great doesn’t make it good folks. Get your hand on the wheel and steer in another direction.
