Jeremiah 2:2 says’ Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem; I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the desert, through a land not sown.
Early in Israel’s history, God’s people trusted and followed him with deep devotion .
The relationship between God and his people was so deep and personal that the Lord was considered the nations’ “husband.” Israel had abandoned their faith in God and pursued security and satisfaction from false gods.
This should serve as a warning to us, we must never deceived ourselves by taking God for granted. If we become reckless and lazy in our relationship with the Lord we can get to a place in our spiritual life where we was once strong devotion to God is lost nothing more than a memory.
