Mistakes are History

Psalm 37:24 says” Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

mistakes

They say that the mistakes we make are a great teacher of lessons. Now if this is true why is it that we keep making the same mistakes? Did we really learn from our mistakes or have we just forgotten the pain it caused us? Mistakes is something we all will make but the growth comes when we actually learned from them, that we avoid doing them again.

I like to call mistakes “history” and so when you go back and read in the Old Testament you see men and women who made mistakes and this is a warning to you and I that we should learn from their mistakes. Sadly enough we don’t because we think we can out whit the people of the Old Testament we think we can do it differently.

Look at the mistakes of Israel, the more they called them, the more they went from them; they kept sacrificing to the Baals of other gods and burning incense to idols. Israel knew the truth of God so why would they turn away from God? And just like us we know the truth and yet we turn away from following God.

God has always and always will want the best for you and I, the key for us is to remember that when we fall the Lord will uphold us. Just don’t make that same mistake again. AMEN

This is one of the reasons why I tell people know the history of the bible, there is so much we can learn. Don’t just read the New Testament you must read the entire bible.

  1. Wonderful message. I’m always astonished when people say they only read the New Testament. The Old Testament is so rich with God’s love for us despite our shortcomings.

    1. If you never read the Old Testament you will never know were you come from. Because the New Testament refers back to the Old Testament. Thanks for commenting Ruth I hope you have a blessed Sunday.
