James 1: 2-4 says “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Websters defines the word hindrance as impediment, obstacle, barrier, obstruction, handicap, hurdle, restraint, limitation and interference.  In this verse James is telling us that we don’t have to allow ourselves to be hinder by anything. And yet you and I make statements like that person or thing distracted me or it kept me from doing something. This is know as worldly thinking and we have to change our thinking and think heavenly.

It’s not that someone or something interfered to cause us to be distracted we allowed it, let me explain. We can not control what comes our way in life, the only thing we can control is how we are going to respond. When you find yourself with a barrier in your way before you blame someone ask yourself, ” when did I allow this event to hinder me?”

Many things in  life can and will hinder a persons walk with God. James tells us to count it all joy when we meet trails and testings. You might be saying to yourself how can or why would I want to count it joy when my life is in total chaos? It’s that type of thinking that we do that hinders our blessing.

Understand the trails and testing that you and I go through does not last for eternity, they are only here for a moment, but because of how we let it affects us it appears as though it’s been with us for a long time. It’s like a hungry person stopping at a burger place to get something to eat and because your waiting two (2) minutes in line it will seem like five (5) minutes, why because you are hungry and it is hindering you from eating.

In our society there are many things that the enemy uses to hinder us he uses social media, television, music, activities and so much more. He will use anything to keep us from reading our bibles, teaching the word, prayer going to church what ever it takes he will do it and so often we fall right into his trap, don’t we?

  1. Really spoke to my heart. Lots of distractions in life these days. Thanks for sending. Also, Desiray, love the picture you used. Do you mind me asking where you got it?

    1. Thank you Brenda and I am sorry to hear you have allot of distractions going on in your life at this moment. I know how that can be, I recently had more then normal during the holidays. And the only thing that work for me was I had to tell myself that I am going to just have to make the time and put other things that are not important to me at this moment to the side. Believe me it’s hard to do at times but when I think about it nothing or no one is more important to me then Jesus. And since I’ve done that I see more clearly it’s as if my eyes was open again. Now I see where I wasted allot of time with stuff you know.

As far as the picture I got it off of Google…It really does go well with the topic, doesn’t it? have a bless day and I will surely lift you up in prayer tonight at bible study.

Please keep in touch to let me know that those distractions are fading away. For Jesus will work it all out. Just stay focus on Him Sis.

  2. Great post. I have realized in my own life that i blamed the distraction as if it has authority over me. But i am now seeing God has given us power and authority but we of over these things but we fail to use it. Its like some blocks your path but God has given us the authority to tear it down or the power to overcome it.
