Do you have that Competitiveness Spirit?

2 Timothy 2:1-26 says” You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. …

As you see I did not type the whole verse because I want you to read it for yourself, what Timothy is telling the people is there is no need for us to compete together for we are on the same race reaching the same goal, which is our crown.

I know people who have that competitiveness spirit about them they always want to be first, we watch sports on television and the players have that competitiveness spirit within them, why are they like that?

We know it’s to win the game, but think for a moment in your daily routine if you have that competitiveness spirit working all the time several things can happen, one you find out that you will irritate some people and most important you end up losing sight of what really is important.

Often times when a person feel that they must be competitive there is a sign that something on the inside of them is hurting, this is why Timothy said don’t worry or be like a person of competitiveness for we all are on the same race, reaching towards our crown, when we are done. As an athletic we are to prepare ourselves for the race and if you every watched a runner they are always out everyday running taking a little step further than the day before. So that they can be up for the task making sure that their limbs are working and then they being to prepare their mind.

Yes we as saints preparing for the race we will have struggles and challenges hills in which we must climb but we are to never get to the point of being so competitive that we under mind others just so you can get their first, because truth be told with so many children of God on this race you will never be first. So take this journey in stride, do your best get the meat out of God’s word and learn of His wisdom and get understanding so you can help someone because believe me on this journey there are always people stopping, sitting down some might even give up, and they need us to come along side of them and tell them let me help you up. That is what Timothy was saying about the race.

This race was never designed so we can forget others it was design so we can help others. Now enjoy the race and when you are done just like Jesus promised He will give you your crown for a job well done!
