“Hospitality” Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to entertain strangers for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
What does it mean to entertain strangers? It means people who you don’t know. Paul was telling us that we must show kindness to every man. And how do we do that? Let me give you an example: When you invite a person to your home don’t you go all out to make them feel welcomed and comfortable? You go and prepare a very nice meal before they arrive you spend your time in preparation, correct? Same as to entertaining strangers we are to show them hospitality just like that.
Now let’s talk about the other half of that scripture where it says “entertaining angels” we are God’s messengers and you never know when God will send a messenger to you. That is why we are to be in good conduct and charitable. For the messenger coming to you has something for you but if you spend your time not showing hospitality then you miss out on your blessing.
This is one of the hardest things for us as Christians to show hospitality to strangers. I’m not just talking about saying hello I’m talking about befriending them. I know the world that we live in is so unsure and lots of things are happening but you must remember this “we are to be more like Christ and not like the world.
One of the things I’ve found to be true and that is, the people who live in the South they sure do know how to show that Southern Hospitality…they make me feel all good and cozy.
