Romans 12:11 says Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
According to Wikipedia, motivation is a theoretical construct used to explain behavior. It represents the reasons for people’s actions, desires, and needs. Motivation can also be defined as one’s direction to behavior or what causes a person to want to repeat a behavior and vice versa. A motive is what prompts the person to act in a certain way or at least develop an inclination for specific behavior.
Did you know that often times we are motivated out of fear? Fear is a strong motivator and it’s a deadly one at the same time. A persons emotions can be just as addictive as a drug.
The downside of both fear and emotions will lead one down the road to destruction. This is why it is imperative that when we set our minds to do something, we must first check our motives for doing it. If our motives aren’t right we will not successfully succeed.
