Genesis 15:1 says” After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”
There are many stories in the bible of how the Lord spoke to people through their dreams. We all have dreams some are good and some are not so good, some make sense to us and some make no sense what-so-ever. I was always intrigued about dreams but it wasn’t until at the age of fifteen (15) that I began to take them more seriously.
I can still remember that dream today, let me share with you what was going on in my life at that time. Me and my family had just moved to a new area, I just started high school and I was working part-time. The year that we moved I made a new friend who happen to be born again, at that time I had no idea what born again meant. I always went to church but never heard it called that. One Sunday she and her family invited me to go and I went. But something was very different I never had this feeling in my gut like I did. It was as if I was being called to come.
I listen to the voice and I went to the altar and I gave my life to Jesus Christ that Sunday at the age of fifteen. After several months later I was struggling with school, job and home. I remember praying before I went to sleep. Later that night in my sleep I heard a voice call my name, I woke up and sat up in the bed when I open my eyes I saw a very bright light I could not make the face out for the light was so bright. To my surprise I saw what looked like a man dressed in all white and I heard the voice say to me these words. ” Desiray don’t be afraid I am with you” I stared at the bright light and immediately I felt my body lay back down.
When morning came I knew without a doubt that I had an encounter with the Divine, that Jesus came and spoke to me. From that day of 1998 till now 2016 I still have those moments when the Lord visit me in my dreams. I know some people don’t believe in dreams but I do. I don’t always know what my dreams mean at that time but sooner or later the Lord always reveals to me what that dream was all about. Sometimes it’s about me other times it’s about other people who He want me to pray for at that very moment.
As you are reading this maybe you don’t believe in dreams, let me say this to you, don’t dismiss those dreams when the Lord is speaking. We as humans aren’t able to figure those dreams out but the Lord will give you meaning if you ask for it.
