Are we “Living” in Perilous Times?

2 Timothy 3:1-5 says” There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Timothy is telling us that seducers and therefore we must not be offended at it nor think the worst of religion or the church. And yet we do become offended, what “perilous times Timothy was teaching the people. In all the recent events that have taken place in America and around the World, one would think we are in perilous times. And if we aren’t we must be getting closer to it.

What makes the times perilous? Well SIN makes it perilous. What we must understand here is that corruptions makes it difficult for a man to keep a god conscience. When there is a general corruption of manners and tempers of men this makes the times dangerous to live in for it makes man hard to keep his integrity. In the midst of corruption. The truth of the matter is that prophecy is being fulfilled.

We also see where Paul tells Timothy what would be the makings of perilous times and they are Self-Love Men will love their carnal selves better than their spiritual selves, Men will be gratified their own lust and make provision for them more than to please GOD. Un-thankfulness/ un-holiness- the reason that men are unholy and without the fear of God, for they are un-thankful for the mercies of God. Unthankful and impure defiled the fleshy lust which is an instance of great ingratitude to God. Perilous times when our children are in disobedience to their parents and when parents are in affliction with their children.

Remember Paul was telling Timothy to be warned about certain seducers that might to be drawn to him, for they like to creep into your house. They like to appear as they have no agenda in mind as innocent and when you let them into your house they will not show you themselves openly. For if they do you would put them out. If you heart is filthy you can expect the enemy to creep in. The seducer does not like truth so when you speak truth and they become unsettled then it’s your signal to not entertain that thought or person.
