Matthew 21:19 says” And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
In most homes when they look in their backyards or the front of the house they have a tree or several trees, when we go to the local park we see many different trees, from the dogwood to the weeping willow.
My favorite tree is the weeping willow, I like how it hangs down and it’s a great place to sit under it and relax with my blanket.
We know that during the seasons the trees leaves changes in the fall those beautiful pedals are all gone and the only thing left to it are the leaves, in the spring and summer we see all the lovely and bright colors.
In all honesty we don’t give much attention to a tree that only have leaves do we? But here in the scripture Jesus saw a tree a fig tree that just had leaves and because it wasn’t producing anything Jesus cursed the tree and said let no fruit grow on it, and immediately the tree died.
Now my question to you today is this, “are you being any fruit in your life?” Or are you like the fig tree just having leaves no beautiful colors or buds, no pedals growing no signed of greenery? Often times the things that takes our attention causes us to stop growing and we end up just like that old fig tree we are withering away.
I would suggest that we all take an inventory of what is going on in our lives and what ever is not producing we need to uproot it, don’t cut it down for cutting it down will not stop it from growing weeds, you need to uproot it by digging in the ground and pulling those dead weeds up by their roots.
Have a Great Sunday and I hope you do make it into the house of God today and receive a word for your growth today. AMEN
