God Disciplines His Children

Hebrews 12: 4-7 says” In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.  And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, my son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lost heart when he rebukes you. Because the Lord disciplines the one he loves and he chasten everyone he accepts as his son. Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.
hardships

Last night as I was reading this verse one thing jumped off the pages and into my spirit. I asked the Lord “how does hardship disciplines me”? Seriously, I am not new to hardships in life but never did I see it as being a way of God disciplining me. But according to this verse God is doing just that.

And so I got to thinking about all those hardships I endured in life and I see just how I have grown and learned valuable lessons. Hardships and challenges are something none of us can handle very well. We start out in life doing everything so well, helping others, reading our bibles, going to church each Sunday, praying for others, we are doing everything we should. Then without warning life’s world wind spins and knock us right off track, and it leaves us a dizzy.

Here we are left standing still not moving not sure what or why it happen? We ask God what did I do? It makes no sense to us and yet all along God is saying “you were running smoothly” but I need to discipline you in an area of your life and that is why this had to happen to you my child.

Sometimes we wish God would give us a warning to let us know that the discipline is coming so we can be prepared? But in all honesty God does give us warnings, we just don’t take heed to what He is saying. We sense Him speaking in our spirits but we brush it off as something else, we sense Him pulling us and yet we brush it off again. God was warning us.

We all need to thank God for disciplining each and every one of us. Now if God is not disciplining you then you must not be one of His children. And if that is the case let me know because today is Salvation for you my friend. Jesus loves you more then you will ever know. Our faith is strengthening through our hardships, opposition and discipline

May you all be blessed by the word and may you look at your hardship not as failure or setbacks but as a renewed body and mind in Christ Jesus.
