Psalm 27:4 say’s One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.
What I love about this chapter is that David was obviously going through a rough patch in the course of his life, we know that he was a man after God’s own heart. We also know that David sinned just like you and I. David wasn’t always obedient to God, but what he always did was repent to God.
In this story David’s enemies have learned about him and they were out to destroy him. And yet David didn’t lose heart in what he was facing from those who wanted to kill him. David was confident in His God. Even while chaos was all around him he never lost his faith in God.
David the Psalmist longed with all his heart to be in God’s presence, and it is the supreme focus of his prayer to God. God calls all of us to this same purpose, to seek His face, to pursue a deeper personal relationship with God. Those who are always striving to live with a greater awareness of God’s presence come to know that the Lord will never turn away from them. For they will never have a reason for despair.
