What would you do if the Church was Gone?

Sunday’s for me and my family is all about going to church. There is something about being in the house of God. David said ” I was glad when they said to me let’s go into the house of the Lord. I know for some families it’s totally different, they have other agendas which they feel are more important. And so, I am not going to discuss that because I have already written a devotion on why you should gather together in the house of the Lord. But what I want to talk about and ask is this, “what would you do if one morning you woke up and all the local churches where gone?”

Now that I have your attention, I think we should give this some thought. Because I believe that the world would go in panic mode. That’s right! They would wonder did the world come to an end? And are they left behind? They would crawl on their bellies trying to find answers but who would answer their questions? I bring this up because I notice in church when the pastor gives scripture and ask you to turn to your bibles so you can follow along. Some people are still struggling to find the book of the bible that the pastor spoke about. This has always bothered me for many years. I visit other churches and I can still hear the pages being turned away after the pastor starts reading.

This is a sure sign of a person who doesn’t read his or her bible! Now if they aren’t reading their bibles then what are they doing? Are they saved? Or are they just coming to church because that is what you do on Sunday’s? Is it a tradition in their home and so their just keeping up with tradition? When a person struggles with finding books of the bible several things speaks about this person. The most obvious one is they surely don’t read their bible, secondly they don’t have a relationship with Jesus. Now before you get bent out of shape let’s look at scripture shall we.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

1 Timothy 4:13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Maybe I should mind my own business, but I won’t. Because to me this is a serious problem. What makes or causes a person to not be able to find any book in the bible? If you are reading your bible, you should be able to go to any book in a bible without hesitation. You shouldn’t be going to the front of the bible and look it up, that’s for people who has never read the bible. Actions like this is a heart decision, when you can’t find a book in the bible or know the names of the books in the bible or how many books that are in the bible. It’s clearly a heart that is not in tune to God.

If the church was gone and the lost came to you what vessel of water will you be able to give them when your empty yourself? You become no service of help for those who are lost. This is serious folks it’s nothing to make fun over, check your relationship and see if you are connected to Jesus? Far too many saints don’t know the books of the Bible and that to me is a tragedy and the enemy is loving every bit of it. As the body of Christ, it is our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters, ask them why they struggle, it’s not that you being nosy it’s that you are concern. Like Jesus said, they will know that you are my disciples by the love you have towards one another.

Isn’t that what the Apostle Paul teaches in the book of Acts how they broke bread together and how they went to each others home fellowship and teaching the word of God? And how God added to them daily and no one went without? This is what we need to be doing saints. It’s so overdue with this playing with God and pretending to be in a relationship with Jesus. For Jesus is coming back and where will you be when He comes?

Have a Blessed Tuesday…

    1. It would be because allot of people would be looking for the church for answers. That’s why we need to have the word already in us. So that we can witness to people.
