All the Wisdom and Yet one Falls to the Ground

1 Kings 4:29 says’ And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Solomon’s wisdom involved a vast amount of understanding and discernment about life and his responsibilities as a King. Solomon wrote 3,000 proverbs of which many of them are in the book of Proverbs. With all the wisdom, he had, he ends up turning his back on God. Why did he do that? He ended up following other gods.  His life is a clear sign to us as to having wisdom and using wisdom.

  1. Solomon didn’t apply his wisdom to every area of his life.
  2. One of the hindrances was his life of marrying foreign women who served false gods (unequally yoked).
  3. Political and military alliances, Solomon didn’t trust God to keep his kingdom secure from foreign enemies.
  4. He found it difficult to resist his physical desire for women, just like his father David.

wisdom

Solomon had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines and his wives led him astray. Solomon who warned others got himself involved in sin, that he permitted and encouraged Spiritism which is a ritual of attempting communication with the dead.

Jesus tells us that any who lack wisdom that they are to ask for it. Each one of us ought to be asking God for godly wisdom, not just when things are difficult but in every area of our lives. We saw what happen to Solomon, the exact same thing will happen to us if we trot down the same path as he did.

I don’t know about you but I don’t ever want to get to a place in my life where I know it all. There are so many things about this life and things I want to do but before I venture out doing things on my own, I want to first make sure that I get God’s approval. If He doesn’t give me the wisdom then I must refuse my desire on what I want and wait till God gives me the understanding.

You can’t obtain wisdom from people. Wisdom comes from God and God alone, many people say that certain people are wise like Socrates, Albert Einstein, and the list goes on. Godly wisdom comes from God not man. It might sound nice what man says but it won’t work and so many people fall into this trap of using these wise tails of others seeking to find some answers to their quest for hope only to be dropped at another dead end road.

We need to know this much about wisdom, when God gives you wisdom He gives you understanding along with it. If you don’t get understanding along with it then you didn’t receive the wisdom from God.

  1. Great thought provoking inspiration! Yes, godly wisdom comes only from God, but even it is conditional. It must be properly applied, NOT merely received and magnified. True ‘wisdom’ is rightly APPLIED knowledge. Unlike Confucius who coined the phrase “DO NOT DO anything to others you would not want done to you”, Jesus took accountability out of the realm of pacifism and placed it within the real of activism. Christ taught, ” DO unto others, as you would have them DO to you”. Real wisdom produces everlasting fruit Peace!
