Jesus said” my house shall be called the house of prayer

Matthew 21:12-13 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves. And said unto them, it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Have we lost all our senses? Yesterday as I was reading several different postings I saw many of them talking about how when they were in church on Sunday that the Pastors had the football game playing on the screen between the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens. . There hope was that more people would come to church and more people did come to church but they only came because they didn’t have to miss the football game. I enjoy football myself but the Lord comes first in my life, everything else including football comes second.

Now I have serious problem with this. No wonder the world can’t tell the difference between the Christian and the worldly people. Jesus attacked this very issue in Matthew 21:12-13 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves. And said unto them, it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

If Christ came now into his church, how many secret evils he would discover and cleanse? And how many things daily practiced under the cloak of religion, would He find?  The church is for speaking the truth not our truths but God’s word. But sadly, in today’s churches there is allot of compromising, we don ‘t want to offend anyone. We want to make people comfortable and happy, why? Because we want them to keep coming back. God, forbid they enter a church and hear the truth and be set free.

So, who’s at fault? Is it the Pastor or the congregation? It’s both. You sitting in the pews have a duty to speak up when you see things that are not in God’s word. The Pastor and leadership of every church has that same responsibility. But because we fear man more than we do the Lord Jesus, we keep silent. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, if the church doesn’t stop playing with God they will become just like Sodom and Gomorrah.

In all honesty, how does a Christian see wrong and say nothing? You who say nothing is just as guilty as the person doing it.

  1. While reading the ending to your post, The Holy Spirit spoke to me concerning my vow to silence. He reminded me that I too, have the Spiritual authority to speak up when I see so many spiritual violations in the church or church environment. I am currently a student at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi and over there we are encased in what is called the “Bubble”. That is, we are supposed to be “shielded” from the affairs of our surroundings. Occasionally, though, I have seen so many of the beliefs that I have read about in MC’s mission and vision violated and it breaks my heart. But, because I fear that no body else cares as much as I do, I refused to speak up concerning this matter. But The Holy Spirit rebuked me using the words of Paul the apostle, “For am I now seeking the approval of man or of God? For if I was seeking the approval of Man, I would not be a servant of God…” So, I will use my voice from now on. The voice God gave me to use. For He hasn’t given me the spirit of Fear but of Power, of Love, and of a Sound Mind. Thanks for sharing this with me

    1. My sister you are right, we cant remain silent any longer. Dont beat yourself up sis. I have done the same thing but that was then. Now I speak up. My mother use to tell me all the time , Desi why don’t you leave the leadership alone? But I couldn’t, and I refuse to let the things of God be treated so wrongly. I have had many people very mad at me, lost friends and family. And it hurt but God got me through.

      1. Don’t let it discourage you. I’ve been where you are . God will connect you with the right people…just keep doing His Will

      2. Thanks. But, I’ve always been quite fuzzy about what His Will is for me. Today was only one occasion when it was clear to me what He was saying: use your voice. But other times, how can I be sure?

      3. Let me ask you a question. Do you have the gift of discernment? If you don’t pray and ask Him for it. This gift will help you in knowing His voice..The more time you spend in listening to His word and studying it you will also get to know His voice.

  2. 30 seconds in silent meditation under a tree may benefit you more than hours in that building. The building is man’s creation of pride and arrogance. The tree is God’s gift of love to each of us.

    1. Meditation under a tree is not what God tells us to do. The building is just a building, that I know. But we are to gather together on the house of God.

      1. From what I’ve read Jesus never taught in a building. And… your understanding of “house of God” is not correct. Your understanding contradicts the instructions to not create alters or temples. Jesus didn’t change that instruction. “Gather together” means work together in unity and love. “So simple so simple, but it is the nature of man to make it difficult to understand.”

  3. If you read you will see that when Jesus parents went looking for Him He said, in Luke 2:49 “But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” Jesus was in the house reading from the scriptures. Gathering together is like minded people coming together as David said “I was glad when they said unto me let’s go into my Father’s house.

You are entitled to your own beliefs of what you have perceived from the scriptures. This will be my last time going back with you concerning the Word. I don’t compromise or allow myself to get into debts over Jesus words, for that is what the devil would want and I am no giving him any place for that with this article. May you ask God for wisdom.

    1. I don’t mean to disrespect your beliefs. What I am saying is that he was not talking about a physical house.
As to negative energies, they prefer it when you close your eyes, mind, and heart to truth.
It’s still ok, I am just saying that there is a lot of negative energies in those buildings. Never-the-less God loves you always, no matter where you are or what you do.
      🙂
