Familiar

2 Corinthians 5:17 say’s Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

That is it about the familiar we love? Could it be more than just playing it safe? Yes, we can agree that it’s easy to do. But in all honesty, we can’t go back to what is familiar. We should move forward. When relationships go bad we go back to the familiar of when times were easy. When our careers aren’t working out we run back to what we use to do. When we cook, we prepare foods that are familiar to us, don’t we? We rather do that then learn a new meal because it will take more time a preparation.

So, what does this familiar must say about our relationship with Jesus? It means that we are still playing it safe with God. For some of us our faith hasn’t grown at all we still where we were when we first got saved. God tells us to go in one direction and we are all sent and ready to go. But the moment things get a little hard for us the first thing we do is go back to those familiar times.

I get it why we do it but we can’t live in the familiar, there is so much for us but if we stay in the familiar we are cheating ourselves. If you look at your life you can see just how familiar we really are.

We drink the same type of coffee every day, we watch the same television programs. We move in the same neighborhoods, we make the same career moves. We go to bed the same time, we go on the same vacations.

Try doing new things each day you might even surprise yourself.

  1. That’s so weird me and a friend were just talking about this an hour ago and I was thinking about this last night and now I’m reading it…maybe it’s time for me to do something new. I really haven’t challenged myself lately! Thanks for that 🙂
