Philippians 4:6-7 says” Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

How do you view prayer?  Do you believe when you pray? Do you believe prayer works in your life? These are no trick questions at all. Many people believe in prayer and just like many does there are many who don’t believe that it will work in their lives. Today I am going to tell you a story of how I came to believe that prayer will work in your life when you “believe.” My mother was a woman who believed in prayer, she taught me and my siblings that when you are in trouble to pray. My mother would sit us down and teach us how to pray just as Jesus taught his disciples to pray. At the age of eight I already knew Psalm 23 by heart as well as the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:5-15.

I am so thankful that my mother taught me how to pray. But just like so many of us we must believe that it works for us in our lives when we pray. It’s one thing to say yes, it’s another to apply it to your life.

I remember a time when I was having so much pain in my stomach my primary doctor didn’t know what was going on, I was in and out of the hospital even the ER doctors didn’t know what was going on, the blood work showed nothing wrong and yet I had this knot in my stomach that stuck out.

Me and my husband have been praying everyday about my healing, and I was laying my hands on my stomach when I prayed. I never stop believing I knew God was going to heal me because my mother taught us the power of prayer.

The ER doctor suggested I go see a Gastroneterlogist, and so they gave me a doctor’s name to contact. When we got home I made myself an appointment, which happen to be a week out.

That Sunday while in church I made up my mind that I am not going to let this pain bother me I am here to give Jesus the glory. And as I had my hands up praising God and singing I felt my legs beginning to tremble, from there my hands started trembling then suddenly I felt this wave of heat cover me from head to toe. My body started sweating, then I started crying thanking God for His healing. The Lord’s manifestation of healing for me took place at that moment.

After worship I told my husband what happen and he said I saw it. That Monday I went to see the doctor he scheduled my appointment for surgery on Friday. When I came out of surgery the doctor said whatever was there is gone, he said we removed a few polyps but that’s all we saw. He said we did an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy and nothing was there. I said Praise God, I already knew, my God healed me. That was five years ago. Now I go back every five years for the testing because the doctor says I should because once you get pass fifty you need it.

I told you my story because when it comes to prayer we must believe it for ourselves in our lives. People can pray for us and that is good but we must pray for ourselves and believe that when we pray God hears and we are healed. I don’t know about you but I pray about everything. I pray and ask the Lord to help me keep the weight off so that I can be in good health overall, the Lord has helped me. He’s given me the strength to say no to foods that aren’t good for me, He gives me the strength to go to the gym when I don’t want to go. And through it all with His help I have lost thirty pounds in six months.

There is not nothing that I don’t pray about…God cares about us and if we are going to worry about those little things why worry when we can pray about it? You might think I am taking it a little over board and that’s okay that you think that. But I am not going to stop praying because prayer works. I have seen all my life the power of prayer.

Would you share with me a story of how when you prayed for yourself how God answered?
