Romans 12:12 say’s Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
James 1:2 says” Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
Galatians 5:22 say’s but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Which one would you rather have? Joy or Happiness?
When you look at these verses about “JOY” what do you see? Are we to be joyful because we have trials and tribulations? Some people would say that we are weird if we went around being joyful all because we are in trouble, right?
The word joy and happiness are two different things and have different meanings. Joy does not come from us; Jesus Christ gives us joy. Happiness is a state of mind of circumstances, which comes from ourselves. If things are going well then one will say they are happy when things go wrong, they will say I am not happy.
But when God gives you joy your circumstances does take your joy away because your faith is in God and you know He is in total control of your life. None of us are exempt from sin, and no one likes problems. We can’t control when life happens to us what we can control is how we react to it.
Life can be so unsettling at times, one minute it seems we are on the horizon and without notice suddenly we are struck down in the valley. Remember this whether you’re in the valley or on the horizon, the joy of the Lord is your strength. And if you have God’s joy you can survive anywhere and face any obstacle that is in your way.
But if you just have happiness in your life, then my friend happiness will not keep you lifted because you will constantly pay more attention to the obstacle than looking to the hills where your help cometh from. Psalm 121.
