Luke 9: 23 says” And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean you are a disciple of Christ. To be a disciple of Christ one must follow Christ. Many people believe that once they are a believer they automatically become a disciple. But that’s not so because many will be saved but they prefer not to follow and do what Jesus did. Being a disciple of Christ means lay aside their ways and follow Him like His disciple did.
It’s essential to discipleship for the simple reason that one cannot be a follower or disciple of the Lord, without first part-taking of His life through conversion.
Luke 9: 23 says” And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. We are to follow Him daily.
Notice the lives of Jesus disciples and how they gave up what they were doing and denied their agenda’s and followed Christ. Jesus told them that He will make them fisher of men. Every day the disciples was being taught on what it means to follow Christ.
Jesus was preparing them for a day when He was not going to be there in the physical that they could continue with the work. Christian discipleship is more than being a believer we must follow Christ.
In Matthew 28:19-20 says” Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
