Refreshing your Memory

2 Pet-1-12 say”s  So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.  I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.  And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.

Woman Reading the Bible.

To get a fully understanding of what Peter is saying about Prophecy one needs to read the entire verses from 12-21. But I will do my best to break this down. Peter is reminding us that it will be good for us on a regular to refresh our memory of scriptures. Let’s be honest folks there are some scriptures that we know by heart. But God is reminding us that when we refresh our memory of scripture that it will go very well with us.

See the disciples had the scriptures with them at all times, for Jesus Himself was the walking scriptures. But He told them that there will be a time that He has to go back to the Father and they need to bring to their memory the scriptures. In the following verses it talks about  For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. When the a man brings forth Prophecy it is always comes from the Holy Spirit.

Can you imagine having the living scriptures walking with you every second of the day? You might think that they were in an amazing time back then, but it’s better for us because see we have the Holy Spirit living in us and all we have to do is pick up the word and all is revealed to us. We don’t have to wonder when Jesus is leaving us like the disciples asked the question. When you enter your home and it’s dark the first thing we do is turn the light on, same things when it comes to the word of God. Every time you memorize scripture that light comes on in the inside of you.

Not only is refreshing our memory of God’s word good for us but God tells us that it will go well for us when we do it. We don’t have to invent stories up like others to tell people how Great God is, the people will see just how Good God is in our lives when we do the word. AMEN
