Numbers, What’s the Fascination

Isaiah 8:19 says” And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?

What is it about numbers that get people so excited? Think about it folks, what is the purpose of our numbers in life?  We get numbers when it comes to school our blogs post and don’t let me forget about all the social media.

Is the number thing that important? Does it speak about how popular or unpopular we are? If you think it about especially on social media the more numbers we see the better, we must be at what we do right? To have people click that they like your stuff is great, but it doesn’t make you popular at all.

What really bothers me about numbers is when the church gets hooked on numbers. Of course, we need people in our churches, but if we are moved by the numbers to get more people through our doors without getting their soul saved or telling them about Jesus who died for them then we are not doing them any justice. It’s as if they are practicing in Numerology, and we know what that is. Now just in case you don’t know what it is numerology is of the devil.

Churches today not all but many have lost the real meaning of having services, it’s as if we are turning the house of God into an entertainment world. God can do more with a church of a few people who are doing the will of God then a huge church who is doing their own thing.

Therefore, I am so glad that the Lord is not impressed by what we say, but by what is in our hearts.

  1. Remember when David numbered the people of Israel? This was a sin, I think because he wanted to know how many fighting men he had. We are not to rely on numbers, but on God. He can save by many, few or none at all and fight himself alone for us.
