Saturday’s Life Application Word~ Deceive~

1 Corinthians 3:18 says’ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

We understand that there are and will be people who will try to deceive us, and sometimes their plan or plot does work. But what about the deception that we have going on with ourselves? We are constantly deceiving ourselves, and we aren’t even aware of the damage that we are doing to ourselves.

We deceive ourselves when we refuse to deal with truth, we would rather sweep it under the rug, put up a wall, pretend that it doesn’t affect us in any way then to deal with the truth.

Question: What have you been lying to yourself about?

Why are you afraid to deal with it?

This is why that same issue keeps coming back, you thought that you hid it well, but we can never hid it well.

Life has away of resurfacing itself, so start today by dealing with it and let’s stop deceiving ourselves shall we? It’s bad enough that the world does this we shouldn’t be doing to ourselves.

  1. This reminds me of what Jeremiah said about the heart – it is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. We can so easily deceive ourselves, so we must work hard to block out every voice but God’s.

  2. I was recently thinking about some things I used to do that I didn’t think were bad. I see now how bad they were! I guess I was blind, or just slow in seeing the truth about things. Maybe it is all part of growing as a Christian.
