Decent and In Order

1 Corinthians 14:40 says’ But all things should be done decently and in order.

1 Corinthians 14:33 says “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

When you hear the words decent and in order what comes to your mind? In this verse it means, let all things be done in an “appropriate” and “becoming” manner; “decorously,” as becomes the worship of God. Let all be done in “order, regularly;” without confusion, discord, tumult.

How many times have we found ourselves having good intentions in doing something but we do it without order? You may be saying well you’re not sure if you have done it or if you are even aware of it.

Let me give you an example of how we at times aren’t aware but we do end up doing things that are not decent and in order. If we see our brother or sister sinning instead of going to them and talking to them we find ourselves running back to a friend of ours and telling them what we saw. (Was that decent and in order? Of course not.

Let’s say you are at work and the boss left the room and you decided that now you can kick back and relax and one of your employees see you doing this and you tell them to take a break and goof off because the boss will never know. (Was what you did decent and in order?)

How many times you been in a doctor’s office waiting to be seen by the doctor and while your waiting you enjoyed reading an article in a magazine so much that you ripe the page out or take the whole magazine so you can read it later? (Was what you did decent and in order?)

What about when you’re at a town-hall meeting and because the community has made some changes to the way things will be done, but you aren’t in agreement with the decision, so you start yelling and screaming. (Was what you did be consider as decent and in order?)

We all can add to this list and end up having a huge list but what is important is that no matter how innocent we think what we are doing we must ask is what we are about to do in decent and in order? Jesus hates when things are not done in decent and in order, everything He does He does it with order…and we must do the same.

You wouldn’t go to a friend house and steal from them, would you? But we go to others and tell them what is happening in their lives or we end up taking something from someone else like it belongs to us.

Always remember, if it brings tension and confusion it’s not of God so leave it alone. If you take something from someone regardless of how innocent it might appear to you or whatever your heart motive was if the person in whom you did this to is hurt by it then your intentions was not of decent and order. Confusion comes from the enemy and you and I at times listen to him for whatever reason we have decided at that moment we were going to listen.

So please remember the key confusion and tension comes from the enemy the solution is to make it right with that person and then ask God to forgive you. God loves order and He will never put up with folly…AMEN
