Deuteronomy 7:5 says” But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
Question: What groves images are you still holding on to?
When we think of images we think of altars of images that a person bows down to worship, but there is an image that you and I still carry around within us and we aren’t even aware of it, it’s called the “grove images of others.”
In our lives, we have had so many people molding us into the image that they think we aren’t to be, we went around trying to please them. As we grew in age we still carry those images with us, we make decisions based on those images that are stored in our thoughts.
We hear the echoes of others telling us what and how we should handle things, and because we haven’t destroyed those graven images in our minds, we heed to those thoughts.
Being children of God we must separate ourselves from these graven images because if we don’t we will never be free in our minds. We can no longer walk to the beat of what others think, we can’t have their thoughts as our thoughts, we must cut ourselves off from every thought that is not of God.
