Humid, Hot, and Hazy

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Now that summer is finally here in our midst we are experiencing a heat wave, they call it the three ‘H’s, humid, hot and hazy”, it’s during these hot temps that records sore in the high 90’s and with the humidity it makes it feel like hundred plus degrees. The pools are open and many people will be running to the pools to keep them cool, while others are staying indoors to keep cool.

Why do we run away from the heat? Rather it be sitting in a movie theatre or theme parks for water rides? We do it because we want to be cool, and yet when we find ourselves in a situation where we are uncomfortable with the issues of life we don’t run for cover, what we tend to do is run away from Jesus. Do you not know that the same hazy and humid circumstances that we face in life is hotter than the temps that we will ever know and we are to run to the rock who is our deliverer?

Summer is not my favorite season, when I was a teenager I loved it allot but as I am getting older I have learned to adapt to the heat. You won’t find me outside much during those sticky days, I wait till evening time to be outside. Life has heat and flames that you and I aren’t able to take care of, therefore it’s imperative that we run to Jesus.

For those who love summer please be careful when you are out in the sun, put on that sunscreen and drink plenty of liquids.
