The Rocks Will Cry Out

Luke 19:40 says” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”

Question: Are you going to let the rocks cry out or are you going to cry out?

When you and I don’t worship God with our own lips God’s creation will cry out and worship Him. During the time of Jesus ministry, the religious leaders tried everything that they could to keep the people quiet. But it didn’t work like they thought it would, people kept praising His name.

In the Old Testament when Moses took the children of Israel into the wilderness they complained and murmured so much that they did not worship God but they told Moses that you brought us here to die of thirst. Moses went before the Lord and asked the Lord what to do for the people was ready to kill him. God told him to take a few of the elders with you and take the staff in your hand and hit the rock and when he did the water came from the rock.

The lesson we learn today is that we thirst for the living God, and the only way our quench will be satisfied is when we drink of Him. See what the children of Israel neglected to see is that their thirst was not just physical it was spiritual. He was letting them know that when we don’t worship Him, His creation will surely praise Him.

We also see in the Old Testament in Habakkuk 2:11 say” The stones of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it.

Psalm 96:11 say’s Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.

All throughout scriptures we see how God’ perfect creation sings praises to Him.
