What does Walking in the Spirit and Not the Flesh Looks Like!

Galatians 5:16 says” But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:22-24 says” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Have you ever ask yourself “what does it mean to walk in the Spirit without gratify the desires of the flesh? Seems impossible, don’t it?

Well in our natural minds it is impossible but it is not to say you can’t do it. And so today I am going to break this down to show you how you can walk in the spirit without gratify the desires of the flesh.

In the first scripture I gave you talks about walking in the spirit now for those who don’t know how to walk in the spirit, you need to know what is the spirit? And the answer is found in Galatians 5:22-24 when we walk in kindness, gentleness, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; we are literally walking in the Spirit.

But if you have sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, these things are walking in the flesh.

Now that you know when you are in the flesh and in the spirit, you are probably saying well I am not perfect, I will make error some days. And that is so true, none of us have arrived we will make error, please understand something, if our minds are constantly on the Spirit of God it will be hard for you to gratify your flesh.

Let me give you an example that will help you out, let’s say you are driving your car and some cuts right in front of you, almost to the point they could have hit your car. The old man’s reaction is to speak ill or be engaged in some sort of road rage. That my friend is gratifying the flesh, now take this same example and apply it to walking in the Spirit, it will look like this. We will say thank you Lord for your protection because they did not hit your car. And then you will pray for them that don’t hurt themselves or anyone else. See that is what walking in the spirit looks like folks.

During our day, we can either chose to walk in the flesh or the spirit the choice is ours, but remember what you sow you will reap, so if you walk in the flesh don’t expect a good return, but if you walk in the Spirit always expect a good return. Situations happens in all of our lives especially when they happen at that very moment. It’s at that moment when we have to chose to walk in the spirit instead of walking in the flesh. When we gratify the flesh we feel some type of accomplishment, but sadly enough we always regret it, so why do we give pleasure to our flesh? That’s the big question.

We must never let our circumstances to cause us to act in the flesh. You and I are no longer held to the law, Jesus freed us from it so stop walking as though you are held to it. AMEN.
