Hebrews 11:5 says”By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.

Can you imagine being that close to God that God saw to it that you never saw death? That He would take you just like He took Enoch, WOW! That is just so amazing, every time I read about people who actually walked with God that sends chills up and down my spine.

There were others who walked with God like that in the bible, Adam and Eve, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. So often when we read about the different people in the bible some we can relate to and others we wish we could be that close to God.

Well today my friends I want you to know that you and I can be just as close to God as they were, the question becomes how hungry and thirsty are you for God? When we become hungry and thirsty for Him we too will walk in the garden with the Lord every day.

It requires something on our part, we just can’t say well now that I am born again it’s up to Jesus to draw close to me, know that is not how it works. We must decrease in every area of our lives while He increases the more in our lives.

As you are reading this post your probably not sure what to make out of it. Maybe you have questions about God all together?  I want to leave you with this thought. Jesus loves you and He died for you. He won’t ever force Himself on you. He won’t force you to read His word, nor will He force you to love Him. You must want to do those things yourself because you Love Him. I hope that something in this devotion spark on the inside of you that you will begin to set aside a few minutes in the morning or evening to read your bible.

Maybe you find excuses when it comes to reading the bible, let me give you a few suggestions, instead of reading a magazine or reaching for your cell phone to catch up on social media during your lunch time. Search the phone and read the bible while you’re having your lunch. Instead of watching those reality shows how about turning the television off and turn on some praise and worship. While cleaning the dinner dishes how about praying while your cleaning the table and putting the dishes in the dishwasher.

How hungry are you for Him today?  Have a blessed Saturday.

  1. Good job!
You know several years ago I did just what you state in this read. I had so many shows on TV that we had something we HAD to watch every night. One night maybe nothing, but on that night we would watch DVR’d shows from the nights we had several things to watch. I know the Holy Spirit must have been dealing with me. I began to feel this was so ridiculous, meaningless. Waste of my life. What was I consuming? TRASH! Except for one. The only one I could say wasn’t total trash was The Biggest Loser. At least it was encouragement and it amazed me to watch the people transform and hear their stories.
    So, what else?
The Batchelor – NO, I am not kidding.
    What else?
Cannot think of the name. It was one with a bunch if Dr’s. Basically a soap.
    What else?
Desperate Housewives – NO, again, I am not kidding.

I think Wednesday night the the biggest night. At work we all pretty much watched the same and everyone would talk about ‘oh my this…oh my that ‘. I mean you would think all the women were gossiping about real life people.

I stopped. I quit the Dr show and desperate housewives first. I had them recorded, but stopped watching. I began doing my own personal bible study. I would spend about an hour in the evening.

The amazing part is that I was once so overly addicted to these stupid shows and then I didn’t even desire to watch them after recorded. Eventually I watched nothing. I watch a little news but that is all. I really CAN’T watch anything like those if I wanted to. The filth and disgust jumps out at me. Nothing hood about TV these days.

I am not out of the woods though. I can find myself drifting, I will wonder why I don’t seem to hear anything special from the Lord. I will notice I have drifted. When I begin reading and praying more and maybe not more but more purposeful, there He is! Waiting for me.

    God bless!

Thanks so much for this post and the other one connected with Enoch. As I read the posts, I thought of this poem written to express my desire to walk with God just as Enoch walked with Him. I trust you will appreciate the sentiments I tried to express, just as you encouraged your readers to do.

    Enoch’s Song

    By faith Enoch was taken away so that he should not see death;
“and was not found, because God had taken him”,
for before he was taken he had this testimony,
    that he pleased God.

    Hebrews 11:5

My heart’s song is to so sing like Enoch,
With all that lies within me, with each breath,
That I too may walk with God and please Him,
That one day when they seek me, I shall not
Be found, for I will have been gathered, caught
Up to meet the Lord in the clouds forever,
Never to taste the bitter root of death
But savor the sweetness of His favor.
That to do His will was my sole desire–
May I leave behind this testimony
Written on the pages of pure a heart
    Prepared for the marriage ceremony,
Blameless in His presence with nothing to hide,
So transformed and fashioned to be the bride.
