Luke 6:36 says” Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Matthew 5:7 says” “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

I wonder at times just how much mercy do we show to people?  Do we really understand the meaning of mercy? Showing mercy is not easy for us as Christians, reason being is it goes against our intellect and our flesh. Once someone has done something or even spoken harshly to us we get so bent out of shape that we can’t show mercy to them because all we can see is the color red which means to get back at them.

For instance let’s say your neighbor who you have been friends with for years have plan a dinner for several people in the neighborhood to welcome the new neighbors next door.  You noticed that her attention is focused more on the new people instead of sitting and chatting more with you then what she normally would have.  Immediately you feel hurt you wonder why she’s different you even wonder if she is upset with you for some reason.

The next day as you come out your door you see her and you pretend that you’re in a hurry so you don’t have to face her. She sees you later that day and ask did you enjoy yourself at the dinner? You say yeah and brush her off.

My question is “Did you show your friend mercy?” Often times in our lives we think that mercy is for the big stuff but mercy must be shown at all times. Each of us stands in need of mercy, we all mess up. Don’t  you want God to show you mercy? Of course you do. As Christians we are instructed to show mercy.

    1. Sad as it is we are like that, but thanks be to God that He is not like that towards us. Now if we would only apply that same Mercy that Jesus gives us towards our fellow man we would be much better off.
