Jericho’s Wall

The story of Joshua and Jericho in found in Joshua 1:1 – 6:25. Today I want to focus our attention to how the Jericho Wall fell down?

God promised Joshua that they will enter the land of Canaan under God’s guidance, God told Joshua “Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Notice how the Lord’s instructed them, the armed men march around the city once each day, for six days. The priests were to carry the ark, blowing trumpets, but the soldiers were to keep silent.

On day seven Joshua told the men to shout and the walls immediately fell down. The Israelite army rushed in and conquered the city.  Only Rahab and her family were spared. Rahab was the prostitute who saved the spies in the city. Rabah went with God instead of what the evil people was doing, and for being obedient to God, Joshua spared her and her family. In the New Testament we read that God favored her by making Rahab one of the ancestors of Jesus Christ the Savior of the World. ( You will see her named listed in Matthew 1:1-17)

What lesson can you and I learn from this? What Jericho Wall is standing in your way today? What is keeping you from making it fall down? The answer is very easy, the armed men was instructed to be silent sometimes when we are in the midst of a storm we don’t know how to be silent. We assume we must be making noise. Look at how the priest carried the ark, blowing the trumpets, that was their only task.

Jesus has given His angels charge over you and I, Jesus is making intercession for us, He has told us to stand still and let Him fight our battles for the battle of the Lord is His.

When we face our Jericho Walls just like Joshua and the men we will begin to see our walls fall down as well. My prayer today is this, that you do as the Lord instructs you and be confident that the Lord is with you just like He told Joshua and so many others in the Bible. AMEN
