Take the Restraints off of God

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.

When it comes to God why do we tend to put restraints on Him as if He can only work a certain way in our lives? We keep Him in a box thinking that there is no way God would do this or that. Could it be that it is how we see our relationship with Him?

When I was a little girl in kindergarten my teacher would always get after me because I never stayed inside the lines when I color or painted, she would call my parents because she thought I had a problem with authority figures. My parents tried to explain to her that Desi sees things much different then most people, she doesn’t like the feeling to being tied down or restrain.

Well needless to say that conversation did not go so well, because even after the talk the teacher wanted me to be like others and I just would not do it. Maybe you call it defiant.

As I got older and in school I thought it would leave but it never did, if anything it became stronger. It wasn’t until I had my relationship with Jesus that I realized that my relationship with the Lord was out of the box. If you don’t know what that means it means this, I don’t put restraints on Jesus because I know my God can do things which are totally out of the box. Everything about Him speaks of amazement. The miracles He performed they are out of the box. Look at how He told the blind man to put mud on his eyes and then go to the water and dip in it seven times.

When we put restraints on Jesus how can you expect to see those great miracles He does? You can’t because you think in your mind that He must only work in a certain way. I challenge you this very moment, stop putting God in a box and watch how amazing your relationship with Him will be.

  1. Thank you so much for this great exhortation. It has been quite a while since I visited your blog. I really appreciate the new vibrant look–How refreshing! As I reflect back on some of your postings, I see that you are still operating “outside of the box” which is a wonderful quality, indeed. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks also for the like posted on my blog. God bless.
