Cast Your Nets

John 21:6 says “He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

The other day as I was out walking around the park in my community, if I could describe it to you. It’s a 58 acre linear park it is one of the city’s greatest assets with playgrounds, walking paths, ball parks, a concert pavilion, lake and gardens.  I can walk it in less than 15 minutes, that’s some fast walking.  When I got done I sat down and watched the people feeding the ducks. I saw a grandfather teaching his grandson how to fish. It was a lovely sight to see both of them having a great time.

As I sat there watching them I started thinking of how the Lord teaches us. He show us how to cast our nets upon the open waters and He is always patient with us . So many times we tend to forget just how patient the Father is with us. God is standing there with you and I showing us how to cast our nets. We get frustrated that we want to give up. As the grandfather and his grandson waited for the fish to bit, they stood there patiently.

The little boy was not frustrated at all he kept talking to his grandfather awaiting for the big one to be caught. The frustration comes when we don’t do what the Father says” God says cast your nets on the right side. And when we are disobedient in listening to God’s instruction He remains patient with us. God’s patient doesn’t run short like ours.

Continue to cast your nets upon the water and watch your return be worth it all. And when you find it frustrating to wait, stop and talk to the Lord God. Talking to God takes your mind off of time. AMEN!
