Christian Values in the Workplace

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

I believe as children of God we should have much better work ethics then anyone on the job. We should not be taking advantage of our position as children of God. For instance, when we are on the clock and it’s not our break we should not be surfing the internet posting on social media networking site. We should not be using our cell phones making personal calls or using it to catch up with social media latest news.

Even if you are posting scriptures what you are doing is totally wrong because you are not bringing glory to God. How can you talk about the God you serve when your work ethics are poorly?

There are people on our jobs who watches you and I they see how we behave how we respond to things and the way we witness to them is by doing what Jesus would do. Sinners don’t understand this scripture about working as unto the Lord, but when they see us working and not breaking the rules we set a much higher standard.  Just because you are a child of God don’t abuse God’s word and do as you please with no regards, that type of behavior does not please the Lord at all.

What would happen if your boss found out what you were doing on company time? They would fire you and have good reason to.  We can’t expect to keep on sinning just, so grace can abound. There are consequences for the actions we do. Abusing the bosses time isn’t worth you losing your job? Sin always looks appealing to us. For its result will always be death.

We didn’t obtain the positions we have on our own. It was the Lord who blessed us with the jobs we have. It’s our responsibility to be a good steward of what the Lord has blessed us with. Our work ethics should always bring honor to Him.

    1. Praise God. As Christians we have to be the example so that people who don’t have a relationship with Jesus will come to know about Him. And that they will ask us what is the reason for our hope.
