Ephesians 3:20 says, now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. (King James Version)
I love the word of God, this scripture here brings back some memories of when I first heard it as a child and when we use to recite it.
But I never knew just how powerful these words meant. Have you ever read something in God’s word and it was like lighting going off and you just had to know what it meant and why? Sure, you have it’s called being thirsty for Him.
So here goes; Now unto Him, just those few words are heart stoppers and a sermon. The apostle having finished his short, but most wonderfully comprehensive and energetic prayer, the apostle brings in his doxology, giving praise to Him from whom all blessings come, and to whom all thanks are due. Have you notice in the letters the apostle writes he always give praises to the people of God? Maybe another devotion I’ll share some insight, but for now let me stay focus here.
That is able to do exceeding abundantly – God is omnipotent; therefore, he is able to do all things, and able to do super abundantly above the greatest abundance. And who can doubt this, who has any rational or scriptural views of his power or his love? This just blows my mind. Isn’t that just amazing how God is? If you didn’t shout now you missed your turn, maybe the next group of words will make you shout.
All that we ask or think -We can ask every good of which we have heard, every good which God has promised in his word. We can think of, or imagine, goods and blessings beyond all that we have either read of or seen. We can imagine good things to which it is impossible for us to give a name; we can go beyond the limits of all human descriptions. WOW! How about that guys, there are things that you and I can’t even give a name to it because of how good it is?
Now the very last of that verse, according to the power that worketh in us- All that He can do, and all that he has promised to do. Will be done according to what God has done, by that power of the Holy Ghost which worketh strongly in us. In our hearts, expelling evil, purifying and refining the affections and desires, and implanting good.
WOW! what an amazing God I tell you ladies and gents, there are no words to describe how magnificent GOD IS! That is why I sum it up by saying “God is God all By Himself” I do hope you enjoyed this devotion and so the next time you hear these words get your praise on because there is no other GOD like My God. He is the beginning and He is the end, there was none before Him and there will be none after Him. AMEN
