Luke 7:36-38 says “When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
What are you willing to give up to GOD? The sinful woman got to a point in her life that she was tired of struggling she was tired of letting men use her for their own pleasures.
She was tired of allowing them to treat her like she is a rag. She got to a point where she felt unloved like a nobody. Her self-respect was ruined when she would look in the mirror and all she saw was ugliness and hate.
This lady finally got to the end of herself, for so long she lived the only life she knew. Do you really think she wanted to be a prostitute? Have you even asked her what happened to her to cause her to go in this direction?
One day something changed for her. She had heard about Jesus and she believed that if she can just get to Him all her troubles would be gone. And so, she set out on her journey to not just follow him but today was her day of appointment. When she saw Jesus first thing she did was drop to His feet, her heart was literally broken at that moment for she has finally come face to face with the divine. The tears that came from her eyes was cleansing her soul. She then wiped her tears with her hair as a sign of gratitude and thankfulness.
While this was happening, the people started talking about what she was doing, they were probably saying it doesn’t take all of that. Just like they still do today. Why is it that when a person chose their own way to worship Jesus, some will say it doesn’t take all of that? No one understand their praise but God Almighty. No one knows what that individual is going through. I tell you now be very careful how you talk about a person praising God. For you have entered judging and you should know what God says in His word about judging.
The only difference between her and us is that she did not care who knew about her sins she wanted deliverance. Look what Jesus did through this sinful woman. This woman was told by Jesus to bring this ointment to His burial! Now at the time she probably did not know what Jesus meant. But look how Jesus had asked this sinful woman to be a part of something that was about to take place at the Son’s Crucifixion.
Have you come to the end of yourself? Are you willing to stop doing it your way and try it Jesus way?
