Talking

Ephesians 4:29 says “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

What an amazing word “talking” is. We do it all day long from the time we wake up till we go to bed, some of us talk so much during the day that we even talk in our sleeps.  (I know you like that part), but seriously folks, talking can get us into trouble if we aren’t careful as to what we talk about.

If I put a group of people let’s say 50 and had four groups of 50 people and I talked about let’s say the weather, money, family or relationships everyone could talk about each topic rather it be good or bad we all can add to the conversation. Now let’s say I started a conversation with the group and we talked about God’s Word probably half the people in total would engage in the conversation. Now let’s say I added a twist to this and I said we are going to talk about the sin in our lives. Oh, now the room is quite no one is talking, why is that?

We all have something in common in which we can talk to people about but the moment you talk about what keeps us from being holy we don’t want to talk about it. Because that would mean we will have to talk about the sin in our lives and we don’t want people to know neither do we want to face our sins.

You may ask why this analogy? I did this to prove a point. In life we share all stories but when it comes to truth of God’s word, we ignore certain scriptures as though it doesn’t pertain to us. We will hear a sermon or go to a bible class but the moment the word hits us at home we turn a deaf ear.

If we become so busy in talking about things which really doesn’t make a difference in our lives, then why are we wasting our time with such things coming from our mouth?
