Warring Within US

Romans 7:21-23, So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

There are some days that being a Christian is like playing tug-a-war. For there is always this conflict that wars on the inside of us. I don’t know how you handle those days, but sometimes I wish I could hide. But thanks be to God that I have more better days then bad days. On those good days it’s easy being a Christian. We make the right choices we do the right thing. We haven’t allowed the conflict that wars within us win.

Instead of focusing on the good days let’s talk about those days that aren’t so great. When you have smile at the people who you know don’t like you. When you must ask for help from those who have tried to under-mind your character. It’s those moments when your flesh is saying speak what is on your mind. But you know you can’t because people would really wonder what got into you. Seriously, sometimes I wish I could say what I am thinking. And just like that if we do that our mouth would get us into serious trouble. We all have experienced what happens when we run off at the mouth.

If our flesh wouldn’t fight against us, we would be much better off. No wonder the bible tells us to submit to God. Our flesh refuses to submit to the Lord that is why we are constantly warring with the flesh. When I say flesh, I am not just talking about the flesh that is attached to our bones. I’m talking mental and physical. Before we got saved, we did as we pleased. We had our own way of processing things. And for some reason we still think that we can use our old way of thinking in the Christian lifestyle.

How do you handle those days that can be challenging? The only way to handle those days is to get in the presence of God.

Our flesh refuses to submit to the Lord that is why we are constantly warring with the flesh. When I say flesh, I am not just talking about the flesh that is attached to our bones. How do you handle those days that can be challenging? The only way to handle those days is by reading the word. Get in the presence of the Lord before your flesh wins. For if we aren’t before the Lord when that warring starts, we will always find ourselves stressed. And the only reason where stressed is because we really don’t want to do what God is saying, we want to do it our way first.
