REVERENCE: Have We forgotten to Reverence the Lord GOD?

Hebrew 12:28 says’ Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

Exodus 3:5 say’ Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

Reverencing the Lord is the fear of God! Profound but true. Reverent behavior includes prayer, scripture study, fasting, and payment of tithes and offerings. God is holy and He deserves your reverence. Be careful how you speak about God. God is Holy and we must be very careful about how we use His name. We are not to use His name in vain. Swearing by His name of any sorts is being disrespectful. Reverence is an aspect of adoration. It is the true response that leads to worship to all that come before God. It is recognizing and honoring the authority of God.

As a child of God it’s imperative that you reverence God. You just can’t come to Him any kind of way. Now before you get all twisted let me explain my statement. One can never clean themselves up before coming to God. The bible says, for all have sin and fallen short of the glory of God. When you come to Him you can’t come disrespecting Him or talking to Him any kind of way. You can’t come demanding like you’re in charge.

One can’t use His name in vain like the world does using profanity in His name. That is not reverencing Him at all. How dare any of us treat Him as if He works for us. What has happened to the respect of who God is?  Everything about a Christians life should have reverence towards God and the things of God. It’s nearly impossible to love Him without Reverencing Him. Are you reverencing God with your life? Are you showing reverence when you pray?

The bible doesn’t tell us what position to pray in. When you read in the gospel of Luke it says that Jesus “kneeled down and prayed” the Israelites often stood when they prayed to God. Bowing to the King of Kings is showing reverence to GOD. Remember when you bow your knees before Him remember to bow your heart as well. Sadly to say but truth be told many of us are bowing our knees but our hearts are far from Him.

When you eat are you saying your blessings over the food before you partake of it? Many people today don’t even know how to say grace. While some have stopped saying it all together. Maybe you don’t see it as honoring God, but that food on your plate comes from God not you. The clothes, career, house, spouse, car, kids and friends you have comes from God. You and I can’t obtain anything on our own. Knowing this how dare we disrespect Him and not give Him the Honor that He deserves.
