Numbers 22:32 say’s the angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.
The story of Balaam is a great story of how God will use unusual things and people to get our attention when we don’t listen to Him. Balaam, in the seat of power over the donkey, beats his donkey for obeying God. Balaam, who had pretensions of being a good person but who was thoroughly evil, for taking out his frustrations on the donkey. We see if you keep reading the story that God caused the donkey to speak to the man.
What is it about us that we love to be in control and hand out commands? Who are we to demand anything from anyone? Our lives are reckless, and we need to be grateful that the Lord stops us from causing any more damage to ourselves. When God steps in to stop us it’s because HE loves us.
How vainly did Balaam boast that he was a man whose eyes were open, and that he saw the visions of the Almighty, when the donkey he rode on saw more than he did. His eyes being blinded with covetousness and ambition.
The donkey knows his owner, sees his danger, but Balaam does not know, does not consider. When our eyes are opened we to shall see what danger we are in. We as children of God need to be obedient to God the first time He speaks to us. AMEN!
Have a Blessed Monday
