Titus 1:16 says’ They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
So what is Titus telling us in this verse? There are several important things he points out. First of all God’s anger is greatly stirred when people profess to have faith in Christ and to be in a right personal relationship with Him but at the same time they are living in disobedience and rebellion against His word. Now before I take this any further I do believe we need to check our own lives first before we say we know someone like this.
Having a right knowledge of God is important because it can lead to godliness, but it is equally important to follow-up with that knowledge with proper behavior and actions that reflect Christ life and character. Those who do not show that they truly know and love God by putting his word into action “are disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
In summary, what we profess with out mouth must be followed by being obedient to the word of God. Otherwise our actions speaks that we deny Him.
